Garden Center Is Available For Meetings, Tours & Events

If your Civic Group, Garden Club or Organization would like a warm, cozy place to meet this Winter, our Garden Center is open for both tours and meetings, Monday through Saturday. Arrangements can be made by calling the Garden Center Office at 1-800-828- 3405; we can accomodate 20 with our chairs, 40+ if you bring yours. And since the entire facility is on one level with easy access ramps, wheelchairs and elderly people are easily accomodated.

The complex is also available for Weddings and other functions on a cost-per-event basis. Up to 300 can be accomodated. Catering, entertainment and refreshments can be arranged. Or you can provide you own ambiance. Once again, please make all inquiries directly to the Garden Center Office at 1-800-828-3405.

Another First: Hardy Cactus Rock Garden at Our Garden Center

This Spring, and especially when in Summer bloom, you'll notice a 10' x 15' area midway up the front steps on the right side just packed with hardy cactus. About 30 varieties with another 60-100 to come. Who would have believed that there were so many cacti hardy in Zone 6b? Many of these were collected as seed along the Northern Kybob Rim of The Grand Canyon by our friend, Al. Our thanks to both he and Bernie for helping make this new Cactus Garden a reality so quickly.

The specially-prepared bed is made up of drainage layers, as with our hardy Alpine Trough Gardens, of builder's sand, loam and sand, and a river gravel top dressing. Tricky to handle at first, once the cactus is established and growing, virtually no care is required.

Cuttings will soon be available, as will entire or partial Cactus Rock Gardens, installed by you or by us.

The spines on these cacti are very sharp; beware, and take care to wear protective gear and use forceps or tongs when handling for the first time.

These plants are fascinating in bloom, with some of the most striking flowers you'll ever see. No Planted Garden should be without a specimen cactus or a small display of cactus within the Garden itself.

We feature a complete line of Aquatic Supplies, over 100 varieties of Aquatic Plants, 5 species of Fish, as well as the knowledge and expertise to guide you to an informed decision, or complete it for you for a fee.
