| Hardy Cactus Garden Is doing just fine, thank you. Theyre getting ready to bloom; you must see this! Two years ago, we installed a Cactus Display Garden about halfway up the front steps on the right side. The bed is made up of several layers of different media for good drainage, like our Hardy Alpine Trough Gardens. Thirty Cactus and related Succulents were installed initially, with another twenty-five added last spring. Well be adding more as time goes by to demonstrate how easily they survive and add diversity and beauty to a Planted Garden. Cuttings and offshoots are available for purchase in front of Greenhouse 2; soon theyll grow up and add much pleasure to your Garden. The Cactus & Succulents Workshop is Saturday, June 20th, from 10am - Noon. Our very special lecturer will be John Millar, locally-known horticulturist and collector, who will share some amazing things about cacti and succulents. Pre-registration is required. There is no charge for the session. Garden Center is Available for Meetings, Tours and Events If your Civic Group, Garden Club or Organization would like a cozy place to meet this summer, our Garden Center is open for meetings, tours and events, Monday through Saturday. Arrangements can be made by calling the Garden Center Office at 1-800-828-3405; we can accommodate 20 with our chairs, 40+ if you bring yours. The entire facility is on one level with easy access. The complex is also available for Weddings and other functions on a cost-per-event basis. Up to 200 can be accommodated. Catering, entertainment and refreshments can be arranged, or you can provide your own. Once again, please make all inquiries directly to the Garden Center Office at 1-800-828-3405.<more> |
