Landscape It Yourself, With Our Help

When you walk into the Garden Center's Main Building, it's evident that someone can draw very well. Actually, it's several people and they're three women Landscape Designers and Landscape Architects who work with us and our customers to precisely detail gardens and adjacent areas on paper for accurate budgeting and installation of short, medium and long-range landscape plans; "phased installations" rather than a large, one-time outlay of funds. This kind of "strategic planning" helps both our customers budget for and us install sensible, yet functional gardens that are easily expandable year after year.

We greatly encourage homeowners to participate in preparing their own gardens, install and divide their own plants, and maintain vigils for insects and disease. Soon, it becomes easy and fun; not quite the overwhelming task most thought it would be.

Check the 1994 Workshop & Seminar Schedule for a listing of the individual, hands-on Landscape Design Sessions that can benefit you directly. Then call us and reserve your session (minimal fee involved for personal instruction) for the Saturday 10am Workshops.

New Format For Saturday Landscape Design Workshops

For this series of Workshops, class size will be limited to 1-2 people receiving personal attention during the individual1 hour sessions, with those sessions held on Saturday Morning and into the afternoon. A $35.00 fee will be charged for a preliminary draft #1 sketch and plant list of each entrant's property. Participants should bring pictures, scale drawings etc of their proposed landscape for use in completing a final site plan. The $35 fee is refunded with a minimum $500 purchase at the Garden Center.

Marge Norman, Landscape Designer from Whitehall, MD, will again conduct the more personalized sessions. Call the Garden Center to sign-up for your choice of Saturday 1-hour time slots.
