1996 Bonsai Styling & Design Workshops With Accompanying Discussion Topics For 1996, these Bonsai Styling and Design Workshops have been scheduled with Bonsai Master Jane Black. Each Saturday morning session starts at 9am and continues for about 3 hours. A discussion on a related or seasonal Bonsai topic accompanies each Workshop Session. Introduction To Bonsai - Sat, April 20 Students will be taught design elements, care of Bonsai, wiring, and potting proceedures for Bonsai. There is a limit of ten (10) students due to the hands-on aspect of the program. Up to five (5) observers will be allowed to attend. Cost is $35. Students will be supplied with tree (Juniper), pot, soil and handout materials. Students must bring their own wire cutters and hand pruners. Observer cost is $10. Deciduous Forest Workshop - Sat, May 4 Plants that offer seasonal change should be part of everyone's Bonsai Collection.This study will involve Japanese Maple seedlings. Students will learn design elememts for forest plantings and information to develop deciduous Bonsai. There is a limit of ten (10) students. Cost is $50. Students will be supplied with trees, pot, soil and handout materials. Students must bring their own wire cutters and hand pruners. Up to five (5) observers will be allowed to attend. Observer cost is $10. Mugho Pine Workshop - Sat, May 25 This is an opportunity to work with one of the most popular pine used for Bonsai. Students will learn about design basics, needle and candle pinching, and care of the pine. There is a limit of ten (10) students. Cost is $45. Students will be supplied with trees, pot, soil and handout materials. Students must bring their own wire cutters and hand pruners. Up to five (5) observers will be allowed to attend.
