Spring 2008 Open House
Our 18th Annual Open House was held on Saturday, April 12th, and nearly 1,500 people passed through the 20-acre Complex. Tri-County BBQ catered the event, the Dave Santana Band provided the all-day jazz, and there was fresh nursery stock and just-arrived perennials for people to shop and purchase. And they did so, in great numbers. Thank you, Mother Nature, for cooperating and giving us a fine day to enjoy it all!

The place was quiet and serene when I arrived just as the sun was rising, around 6:15am. All hell would soon break loose.

Even in dawn's first light, the new hardscape additions to the StoneWorks Yard
looked like Works of Art.

It didn't take long for the crowds to get here, the parking lots to overflow and the entrance roads be quickly used as parking areas.

Soon, parking was becoming a real problem. Who knew 1,500 people would show-up?

Sister Becky listens as Arthur describes the parking problems on the roads.

Dad & Jennifer kept the two registers humming at the front checkout counter, and the already long lines from getting any longer.

Bob (left) pauses as his customers discuss a pending purchase.

My marketing guru, Bobbi, kept an eye on everything to make sure it ran smoothly, and had a good time. Her husband, Mike, signs-up for the JSGC&N Gift Certificate drawing.

The straw hats were out in force on that 73°F day, so yours truly even pitched-in to help some customers with advice and their selection.

The BBQ, side dishes and desserts attracted a lot of hungry people. We always put on a nice spread for our guests. Tri-County BBQ is our go-to caterer, for these events.

The food line stretched out of the Main GH and just got longer and longer.

Even the many little ones with their parents, had a great time.

We fed close to 1,500 people that day, and no one went away hungry.

And the Dave Santana Jazz Band, played on and on and on. Great music, all day.

Dad's 85th Birthday was April 14th, two days later, but Becky & I surprised him with a cake and a song.
