Garden Center Is Available For Meetings & Tours If your Civic Group, Garden Club or Organization would like a warm, cozy place to meet this Winter, our Garden Center is open for both tours and meetings, Monday through Saturday. Arrangements can be made by calling the Garden Center Office at 1-800-828-3405; we can accomodate 20 with our chairs, 40+ if you bring yours. And since the entire facility is on one level with easy access ramps, wheelchairs and elderly people are easily accomodated. The complex is also available for Weddings and other functions on a cost- per-event basis. Up to 300 can be accomodated. Catering, entertainment and refreshments can be arranged. Or you can provide you own ambiance. Once again, please make all inquiries directly to the Garden Center Office at 1-800- 828-3405. Year 'Round Container Herb Gardens Everyone who cooks loves their very own herb garden just outside the kitchen. But for those who don't have the room, a container herb garden could be the answer. And if space is no problem, selecting the right combination and number of herbs is an enjoyable task, as is their propagation. Any Garden Center Staffer can help you choose and plant a special container for your own. Or purchase a pre-planted container for a gift or take home and imediate use. Also, plan to be at our two "Herb Workshops" in the Spring of 1996 (Schedule soon available), available as a free Workshop both on Saturdays from 10am-Noon to learn more about this increasingly popular way to enjoy herbs all year long Best Time To Plant Large Trees The Fall is the very best time to plant any tree, especially large caliper (diameter) and greater height trees, simply because they are dormant (leaves have dropped and sap is fully-contained in the root ball). There's no real water requirements since leaves are absent, and the root system has an an extra period of time to heal itself and make progress toward new feeder systems for Spring growth. They simply wake-up in a new neighborhood, ready to give you shade and beauty. Watering is minimal unless a drought occurs. Fertilizer isn't necessary until later, since the root ball must be allowed to catch-up to leaf spead for even and healthly growth. Rule-of-thumb: September through December Tip For the Winter months, houseplant clean and purify the air in homes, condos and apartments. Plus, they're good companions and provide color during those drab Winter days. Here's a discount for you on our potted plants and hanging baskets. Enjoy. |
